Labels are used in annotation to classify information in text. Here’s a detailed explanation.
What are labels?
A label is the name of a category of things or concepts of the same type. It is used to classify information in texts.
Example
If you are classifying customer support tickets, your labels may be "product issue", "shipping issue" or "service issue"
Sub-labels
In some cases, labels can have sub-labels.
Example
A product issue may have multiple causes. It can be due to the price or the quality of the product, so the “product issue” label has the “price issue” and the “quality issue” sub-labels.
